Northern Flickers with their dimorphic moustaches? I love seeing our local couple at the suet feeder.

Subspecies are divided between red-shafted and yellow-shafted groups. The first photo is of a male cross between red and yellow. The second photo is of a yellow-shafted female.

Dear reader,

These dinosaur photos were taken at great personal risk. I was, at times, within ten feet of these magnificent beasts, with their sharp talons and amazing agility. Truly an experience to remember. Northern flickers are a species of ground-feeding woodpecker native to nearly all of North America. Likeliest to be seen in open lands near a treeline. As you go east, you'll see yellow-shafted sub-species, as opposed the more westerly red-shafted variants.

i’ve gone off about how the tcom protagonists appear to have mitosed and reformed in different ways to form the ln protagonists, but I don’t think I’ve talked much about the inverse. that being clave becoming an (un)intentional amalgamation of ln character traits, both from canon and different factions of fanon. maybe that’s why i like him so much lol
